Fish and Chip Paper: On HBO Tonight

I really don't have too much to blog about. Not feeling it lately.

Did you know that I now blog for The Daily Texan's multi-tiered blog? Me either.

I didn't even know that the Texan had a halfway decent blog until recently. That's cool. And if they'd update content frequently (I'm in a glass house, I know) then they'd be in a pretty good position. Me likey.

What's not cool and what I certainly don't like is that the Texan no longer has even yesterday's paper archived. This is beyond retarded.

Maybe it's just part of the process of the revamp in general and temporary but there's no mention of any kind of work in progress so I don't know. It's great that the site no longer crashes Firefox but completely trashing the archives (including well over a dozen hilariously offensive pieces of my own) is just dumb.

Anyway.

The Spurs are now 0-2 and it's still not Duncan's or Parker's fault. Oh well. 80 left.

(And I should note that the Silver Dancers are way more attractive than the Laker Girls even though they wear too much makeup. But of course the Spurs lineup is way more attractive than the Lakers lineup so that should come as no surprise. Sorry Kobe but your eyes are really droopy and Pau Gasol looks like a 7 foot version of my sink after I shave a two-week old beard.)

I feel pretty good about this election. My only real concern is the Minnesota senate race (where strong and proud progressive Al Franken absolutely must defeat fake moderate Norm Coleman and take back Paul Wellstone's seat) and what kind of liquor I'll be using to sauce myself with come 6ish on Tuesday night.

The only thing of any importance happening in Austin is the battle over Proposition 2. The local media elite and the corporate lapdogs of the Austin City Council (except for Laura Morrison, who isn't a corporate lapdog) have banded together with industry to see that this amendment fails. They've got a lot of money but also had a late start in organizing against it. Unfortunately they've been able to pull together some support from the finicky and clueless progressives over at the Burnt Orange Report as well as a good deal of their friends. This is tragic because all the amendment does is cut corporate welfare and preclude the possibility of it being used to subsidize retail in the future. A lot of generally good and intelligent people are completely out to lunch on this issue. The amendment needs to pass for the public good. Vote Yes.

Some site-related issues: I've added and subtracted on the blogroll.

It turns out McBlogger is not a progressive. Just a loud and annoying moderate Democrat who happens to be gay and likes to carry water for corporate-interests in the name of Greater Corporatism. Oh well. They don't need my traffic anyway.

I've added the blog for Public Policy Polling. Tom Jensen is a progressive pollster of my cohort (only 25!) and he's consistently the most accurate as well.

I added the Daily Texan's blog portal because I'm there and it's got some funny stuff in the Dot Complimentary section.

Grits for Breakfast deals with Texas criminal justice issues in as much depth (and maybe more) than one could ask for is brilliantly written.

Oh, and, I read some more books. Love me that Updike and Halberstam. Virtuosity.

Finally, on HBO tonight, I think Sookie is going to become a vampire.

And Vince is gonna get screwed after a joyous string of news last week. Again.

Go vote on Tuesday and stop posting anonymous comments.
